Love Of Christ Fellowship Church is a thriving missional non-denominational church committed to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ locally and abroad. We are committed to transforming lives, healing hearts, and ministering to the lost. Love Of Christ Fellowship (LOCF) church San Diego was born October 1996 from God’s leading through Bro Maffy and Sister Carmen Barcelon, Bro Jr and Sister Modjie Hernandez, Bro Nestor and Sister Loida Mendoza, Bro Morris Durmiendo, Bro Raul Clemente, and Sister Recela Layon.
Out of the kindness of Pastor Leo Clemente (pastor of International Church Of Praise, ICOP), he initiated the preaching of the Word of God and agreed to alternate on pulpit time with then Bro Maffy (now pastor of LOCF Temecula) as the leaders pray and search for resident pastor.
The first official service of LOCF SD was held at the Falls Clubhouse in Rancho Bernardo on October 26, 1996. Couple of months later, God provided a room every Sunday at the Mira Mesa Recreation Center. In April 1997, He opened the door for Pastor John Horst to lead LOCF SD for the next eight months. The challenged continues and LOCF faced yet another time of searching for a full-time pastor.
Through yet another help and assistance from Pastor Leo Clemente, Pastor Romy Somera was introduced to Bro Rick Barreyro (who just returned from a military tour in Hawaii) via phone. The following day, both Bro Maffy and Bro Rick met with Pastor Romy for an interview. The Lord answered the prayers of His people; Pastor Romy became LOCF pastor on January 1999. He is a graduate of FEBIAS Bible School and is married to the former Chona Angeles. They have two children; Rodney and Kristen.
With the Lord’s continuous blessings, we were able to move from the rented room in Mira Mesa Recreation Center to a bigger space in Activity Road at the Allegro Dance Studio. After two years, the Lord allowed us to move a Suite closed by and to have our own space accessible for 24/7. It will be our home church for the four years.
In 2008, the Lord showed us the potential for growth and allowed us to move to our current location. This new found building had become a meeting place for the lost, and a sanctuary for believers. With all the excitement we have in an attempt to fulfill the Great Commission for LOCF, yet another challenge came. Pastor Romy Somera tenders his resignation in January 2012 after faithfully serving LOCF for 13 years.
As difficult and hard to be without a pastor, LOCF’s leadership initiated a search committee and after six months, God provided and brought to us another shepherd, Pastor Arthur Benjamin. Pastor Arthur was initially invited as guest speaker while serving on the Pastoral Staff of “The Rock” church.
Today, Love Of Christ Fellowship Church continues to be a thriving church committed to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ in San Diego and abroad. This ministry is a beacon of Hope, a House of Prayer & Intense Worship!! A church pursuing God through study of His Word and experiencing community. The Lord has been faithful to this ministry. To God Be The Glory forever and ever, Amen!!!
